  About The Owners  

Bob Schell moved to Greeneville in the early 1980?s with his family. He lived in Pennsylvania, Vermont and California prior to that time. He graduated from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a B. S. in Animal Science in 1985 and an M.S. in Food Technology and Science in 1988. When he and Robin were married in 1987, he managed the family farm in Greeneville for a few years. After that, he worked with the Sara Lee Meat Division in Zeeland, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois.

Robin Schell, an East Tennessee native, lived in Florida and North Carolina before her marriage to Bob and moved with him to Greeneville, Michigan and Illinois after that. She graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina with a B.M. in Music Education in 1985. In 1987 she received an M.S. in Music Education from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She became an avid gardener while teaching music and living on the family farm in Greeneville. She and Bob have three children.

Bob and Robin developed an interest in landscape design and management after being involved in several personal landscaping projects. Bob completed courses in Turfgrass Management and Landscape Lighting at the Morton Arboretum, in suburban Chicago. Robin earned her two-year Home Landscape Horticulture Certificate there in 1998. Soon after, Bob and Robin decided to follow their dream to come back to Greeneville and start Heritage Gardens. Bob and Robin continue to update and expand their knowledge by attending regional and national landscape management and nursery conferences. Bob obtained his Commercial Pesticide Applicator License from the state of Tennessee in 1997. Bob and Robin are both Tennessee Certified Nursery Professionals.
